From Jasper to Banff - Wedding at the Rimrock Resort Hotel

On August 16th (not 17th, as originally planned) we photographed our first wedding since the wildfire evacuation of Jasper. This one was planned to take place at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge since at least a year ago, and so it was certainly no small feat for this couple to pivot their plans and relocate to the The Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff. But when you are supported to the ends of the earth by your family and friends, anything is possible; and this couple and their families proved that.

And of course, we feel the same way. It was an emotional day, as the 16th was also the day that Jasper re-opened the townsite to residents. We, along with the amazing team at Jasper Event Management, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Jasper's Alpine Music, Nᴀᴅɪᴀ Hᴇʟᴍʏ Hairstylist and Roman Skrabalo films did what we so frequently do together (which is to pull off Jasper's signature wedding services), but in an entirely new venue and location.

It has been a roller coaster of emotions each time we see people from our community, as everyone is processing it all differently, and everything is still ongoing. So many people have lost so much, and are just trying to figure out the next few days or weeks, let alone the next few months or years. Yesterday was no different, and so there was laughter and hugs, there were worries and there were tears.

But there were also many small victories, and a whole lot of pride in our wedding network for showing up and giving their best in the midst of everything, in service to this incredible couple.

We wish the very best to these two and to their families and friends who so warmly welcomed us into one of the best days of their lives.

It may have been far different than what anyone had planned, but as love stories tend to do, it worked out perfectly.
