We are professional wedding, elopement, and portrait photographers local to the town of Jasper, Alberta, in the heart of Jasper National Park.
Kinfolk is the recognition that we are all related, and that our relations shape who we are. Kinfolk Photography values people of all races, sizes, abilities, gender identities, and sexual orientations. We value all forms of love and family - we put inclusivity above all else. Relationships bond us and we passionately believe that using photography to capture the essence of relationships make those bonds stronger. This is Brian.
He was born and raised in Jasper National Park, and for nearly 15 years has been photographing weddings, couples and families whose stories cross over in this place.
He prides himself in being exceedingly friendly, happy to help, and passionate about being not just a good photographer, but also a good host for the mountain community of Jasper. Having a loving family of his own, he believes that the best memories are made with others. This belief is only made stronger by his experience as a visual storyteller, using photography to tell the stories that matter most to his clients.
In addition to photography, Brian is passionate about his family, his dog Lenny, plants, books, writing, exploring the outdoors and finding new experiences.
This is Ash.
Ash is a mother first and foremost. She believes that family; whether it’s the one you have or the one you choose, is the most important piece of the puzzle of life. That’s why she believes that creating photographs that remind couples and families of the uniqueness and beauty of their own stories is such a powerful gift.
With nearly 10 years of photographing love between couples and families, Ash has told countless stories through her images. The laughter and tears, the passion and the joy, all combine to tell the most important stories of all; ours.
Ash is passionate about caring for the well being of mothers, and raising children that live, love and express themselves freely. Her family is the center of her universe, and Kinfolk is an extension of that truth.
Ashley and Brian started working together as wedding photographers in 2014, assisting each other with their separate photography businesses. What began as sub-contracting soon became a fast friendship, and eventually they fell in love. In the fall of 2021 they got married in southern Alberta. It was a simple and perfect exchange of vows in the cottonwoods next to the Oldman River, with Ashley’s sister and son presiding over the ceremony.

Over the last eight years since meeting we have travelled around western Canada and Mexico to photograph weddings and families, as well travelling to Mexico and Bali with our little family. We’ve gained so much from the opportunity to experience other cultures, and to introduce our younger generation to them. Ultimately though, with all of the adventures as a family we’ve come to reaffirm one thing; the most important thing for us are the relationships that make our lives so special. We love our own story, and that is part of what motivates us to photograph in the way that we do; with a focus on connection, on relation, and emotion, knowing that every person’s story is just as unique and special as our own.
