Remember to consider what type of adventure you are planning and how long it will take, so that you can prepare appropriately using this packing list as a guide. There might be some things on here that you don’t need, or some that aren’t on here that you do! This is just to get you started on thinking what your chosen adventure calls for.
If you are having professional photos taken during your adventure, remember that you can always bring nice shoes or outfits for the photos with you, but wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the journey there!
The scenic drive for sightseers packing list:
Water: Always pack extra water in the car!
Lots of snacks: (including some hearty ones!)
Sunscreen and Lip Balm: Protect your skin and lips from harsh UV rays.
Bug Spray: To keep those pesky insects at bay.
Rain Jacket: Weather can be unpredictable in the mountains, so staying dry is crucial if you want to hop out for a photo.
Lightweight but Warm Jacket: For summertime in those cooler temperatures at higher altitudes.
Bear Spray: An essential safety item in bear country. (we've got it if you don't!)
Binoculars: For a closer look at distant wildlife or landscapes.
Good shoes for walking around.
Full tank of gas: You can go a long ways in the mountains without coming across a gas station!

There are lots of places in the Jasper townsite where you can stock up on hiking and camping essentials. Here are a few local options:

First Aid Kit: Include bandages, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, medical tape, pain relievers, and any personal medication.

The Winter Edition
In wintertime, all the above considerations are still relevant, but you might want to add on a few of these as well! These are for general outdoor activities*.
*For activities that involve avalanche terrain, proper equipment and trained guides are essential.
Gloves and Scarf: For added warmth in cooler weather or higher altitudes.
Insulated Boots: Good quality boots for navigating ice and snow, and keeping toes warm!
Really warm jacket: Even if you are getting photos taken in a lighter jacket, bring a really warm one to switch in and out of so you don't catch a chill!
Insulated base layer: Throw on a skin tight base-layer under your clothes for better insulation.
Hand and foot warmers: These are self explanatory.
Crampons or ice cleats: Especially if you plan to walk on icy or uneven paths!
Extra gloves and socks: Warm hands and feet are highly necessary!
